CardBear Privacy Policy

Overview

CardBear is designed to be simple: search for a store, compare available gift card offers, and click through to a third-party marketplace when you want to review or buy an offer. We do not operate checkout, issue gift cards, or process your marketplace purchase on CardBear.

We do not sell or rent personal information that you intentionally provide to CardBear. We use limited information to operate the site, improve search and comparison features, understand site performance, prevent abuse, and support advertising or affiliate relationships that help keep CardBear available.

Information CardBear may collect

When you visit CardBear, we and our service providers may collect basic technical and usage information such as your browser type, device type, operating system, pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, referring pages, search terms used on CardBear, clicks, and timestamps.

If you contact CardBear by email, we may receive your email address and the contents of your message so we can respond. If CardBear later offers forms, alerts, or similar features, information you submit through those features will be used to provide the requested service.

CardBear Chrome Extension

The CardBear Chrome Extension uses the domain of the website currently open in your active browser tab, such as target.com, to identify the retailer and retrieve matching discounted gift card offers.

The extension sends only the normalized website hostname needed to provide this feature. It does not send the full page URL, page title, page contents, shopping cart contents, browsing history, passwords, payment information, keystrokes, or personal messages.

If you choose to create a price alert, CardBear collects the email address and selected discount threshold you provide. This information is used only to create, manage, and deliver the requested gift card discount alerts.

The extension may store settings, cached offer data, your saved alert email, and alert preferences in Chrome storage to improve performance and remember your choices between browser sessions.

CardBear does not sell personal information or use information collected through the extension for purposes unrelated to providing gift card comparisons, price alerts, and associated CardBear features.

How information is used

Information may be used to operate and maintain CardBear, measure traffic and performance, diagnose technical issues, improve gift card search and comparison pages, detect spam or abuse, respond to messages, and understand which stores, links, and offers are useful to visitors.

Aggregated or de-identified information may be used for analytics, reporting, site improvement, or business planning. This type of information is not intended to identify you personally.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

CardBear may use cookies, pixels, scripts, local storage, or similar technologies to remember preferences, measure how the site is used, improve performance, help protect the site, and support advertising or affiliate attribution.

Third-party services such as analytics providers, advertising networks, affiliate networks, and gift card marketplaces may set or read their own cookies or similar technologies when you use CardBear or click links that leave CardBear. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

You can usually adjust cookie settings through your browser. Blocking cookies may affect some site features, tracking, or attribution, but basic browsing should generally remain available.

Affiliate links and third-party marketplaces

CardBear links to third-party websites and marketplaces that are not owned or operated by CardBear. When you click those links, the third party may receive information such as the referring page, your device or browser information, and information needed to track referrals or commissions.

Once you leave CardBear.com, the third-party site controls its own checkout, account system, gift card delivery, customer service, cookies, privacy practices, and terms. Review the third party's privacy policy before submitting information or making a purchase.

When information may be shared

CardBear may share information with service providers that help operate, secure, analyze, host, or improve the site. These providers may only use information as needed to provide their services to CardBear.

Information may also be disclosed when required by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request, or when we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect CardBear, visitors, partners, or others from fraud, abuse, security issues, or legal claims.

Children's privacy

CardBear is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to CardBear, please contact us so we can review and delete it if appropriate.

Security and retention

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and operational measures intended to protect information handled by CardBear. No website, network, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

Policy updates

CardBear may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above. Your continued use of CardBear after a policy update means the updated policy applies to future use of the site.
